Freight to the Florida Keys
Pallets, equipment, building supplies and business freight all have to cross the same single highway to reach the islands. In-N-Out Keys is a veteran-owned, family-operated carrier and broker serving the entire Florida Keys, and we now arrange freight shipping to and from the Keys alongside our vehicle transport.
Why freight to the Keys is different
The Florida Keys are one long chain of islands connected by a single road, the Overseas Highway (US-1). Everything that is not made on the islands arrives on a truck that has driven the 18-Mile Stretch south of Florida City, crossed dozens of bridges, and gone as far as Mile Marker 0 in Key West. That geography shapes freight in ways mainland shippers do not always expect.
Delivery windows matter more here. Many Keys businesses cannot receive a full-size truck on narrow streets, at marinas, or behind restaurants, so a driver who has made the run before is worth a lot. Traffic on US-1 can back up for hours after a single accident, and storm preparation can change a pickup date overnight. A freight partner that understands those realities saves you re-delivery charges and missed appointments.
What kinds of freight we arrange
We work with you to match the shipment to the right kind of truck. Typical jobs include:
- Palletized freight — boxed inventory, restaurant and bar supplies, retail stock, and marine parts shipped on standard pallets.
- Building and renovation materials — tile, cabinets, windows, doors, lumber bundles, and fixtures for homes and commercial projects.
- Equipment and machinery — generators, compressors, dive and marine equipment, and small construction tools.
- Household and furniture freight — large furniture shipments and crated items that are too big or too delicate for a parcel carrier.
- Vehicles plus freight — when you are moving a car, a golf cart, or a motorcycle and also have boxes or pallets, we can often coordinate both moves together.
If your freight does not fit one of these categories, call us. Odd sizes and unusual loads are normal in the Keys, and we would rather talk through them than guess.
Less-than-truckload or a full truck
Two ways to ship freight cover most needs. Less-than-truckload (LTL) means your pallets share trailer space with other shipments. It is usually the economical choice for a handful of pallets, but it can involve more handling and a more flexible delivery window. Dedicated or partial truckloads keep your freight on its own trailer, which can mean fewer touches, faster transit, and a firmer schedule. For larger or time-sensitive jobs, that control often justifies the difference.
We will recommend one or the other based on weight, dimensions, how many pieces you have, and how soon you need delivery. We will tell you the tradeoffs plainly so you can choose.
Getting an accurate freight quote
Freight pricing depends on details, so the more you can tell us up front the better your quote will be. Have these ready:
- Pickup and delivery addresses, including whether each is a business, a residence, a marina, or a job site.
- Number of pieces or pallets, with approximate weight and dimensions.
- How the freight is packed: pallets, crates, loose boxes, or machinery.
- Whether anything is fragile, hazardous, temperature-sensitive, or unusually tall.
- Whether the delivery site has a loading dock or forklift, or needs a liftgate.
- Your timing: a specific date, a window, or flexible.
We do not publish freight rates because every shipment is different, and we will not guess at a number before we know what is on the pallet. Send the details and we will come back with a real quote.
Delivery tips for Keys addresses
- Tell us about access. Gated communities, low bridges on side roads, narrow lanes in Old Town Key West, and marina docks can all limit truck size.
- Have someone there to receive. Freight drivers cannot leave pallets unattended, and missed deliveries cost money.
- Ask about a liftgate. Without a dock or forklift, a liftgate truck is usually the practical option.
- Inspect on arrival. Note any visible damage on the delivery paperwork before the driver leaves.
- Plan around storms. During hurricane season, build in extra time and keep your schedule flexible.
Freight and vehicles from one source
Many of our customers are already moving something with us. If you are shipping a car, take a look at our auto shipping and Florida Keys routes pages. We also move golf carts and boats, and dealers who need steady inventory runs can read about our dealer trade service. Because we operate as an interstate carrier and broker, and as a direct carrier for all of Florida, we can often handle the Florida leg ourselves and line up the right carrier for longer interstate hauls.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship freight to Key West and the Lower Keys?
Yes. We arrange freight to the entire Florida Keys, from Key Largo down to Key West. Tell us the exact delivery address so we can plan truck size and access.
Can you pick up freight in the Keys and ship it out?
Yes. Outbound freight from the Keys is common, including business inventory, returns, and household goods. Share the pickup location and destination for a quote.
Do I need a business address for freight delivery?
No. Residential and job-site deliveries are possible, but they may need a liftgate or a smaller truck. Let us know early so the right equipment is assigned.
How long does freight take to reach the Keys?
Transit depends on where the freight starts, the service level, and how full the truck is. We will give you a realistic delivery window with your quote rather than a promise we cannot keep.
Can I ship a vehicle and freight together?
Often, yes. Mention both when you request a quote and we will look at how to coordinate them.
How does payment work?
We will go over payment terms when we send your quote. For vehicle moves, Every carrier accepts COD, but not every carrier takes billed payments, so paying on delivery lets us line up the best carrier for your route.
