Key West to mainland Florida
Leaving Key West with a car you do not want to drive? Whether you are headed to Miami, Davie, Orlando, or anywhere else on the Florida mainland, In-N-Out Keys, a veteran-owned, family-operated direct carrier for all of Florida, moves vehicles off the island and onto the mainland.
An outbound lane the Keys need
Most conversations about Keys auto transport focus on getting a car to the islands. But plenty of vehicles leave too: residents relocating, people selling a car to a mainland buyer, snowbirds heading north, and owners sending a car to a mainland shop or dealership for repair. The trip off the island is the same 113-mile stretch of the Overseas Highway in reverse, from Mile Marker 0 in Key West over the Seven Mile Bridge and up the 18-Mile Stretch to Florida City.
A one-way run from Key West is a common job for us. As a direct carrier for all of Florida, we handle in-state moves ourselves and do not hand them off to a chain of strangers.
Where we deliver on the mainland
We deliver from Key West and the Lower Keys to destinations across Florida, including:
- Miami-Dade and Broward — Miami, Hialeah, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Davie, Pembroke Pines, and nearby cities.
- Palm Beach County — West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and more.
- Central Florida — Orlando, Kissimmee, Tampa, and the I-4 corridor.
- Southwest and Northeast Florida — Naples, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, and everywhere in between.
- Auction and dealer lots — for example, deliveries to an Orlando auction. See our auction car transport page.
Moving out of state? Mention it when you request your quote and we will explain how interstate moves work, since we also operate as an interstate carrier and broker.
Pickup in Key West and the Lower Keys
Key West is a tight place for a car hauler. Old Town has narrow streets, one-way lanes, historic buildings, and parking rules that can all complicate a pickup. Many cars are parked on the street. If yours is, tell us the exact address, the parking situation, and the location of the key. A neighbor, friend, or property manager can hand off the car if you cannot be there.
We also pick up in the Lower Keys, including Big Pine Key. For pickup details on Key West itself, see our Key West car shipping guide.
How an outbound job works
- Request a quote with your pickup address, your delivery city, vehicle details, and timing on our quote page.
- Tell us about the car. Does it run and drive? Any modifications or low clearance? Photos help.
- Schedule the pickup. We agree on a date or window and the contact who will hand off the keys.
- Load and inspect. The driver documents the car’s condition on the bill of lading.
- Deliver. The receiver inspects the car and pays on delivery. See our pay on delivery page for more.
Open or enclosed
Most vehicles leaving the Keys ride on an open car hauler, which is the standard and most economical option. Owners of classic, exotic, or high-value cars often choose an enclosed trailer. Our open versus enclosed guide explains the differences, and our exotic and classic page covers special handling.
Payment on outbound moves
Every carrier accepts COD, but not every carrier takes billed payments, so paying on delivery lets us line up the best carrier for your route. Routes that leave the Keys can sometimes need a split payment, with part due at pickup. If yours does, we will tell you up front, not at the curb.
Planning tips for leaving the island
- Book early in season. Spring is busy as snowbirds head north, and Key West pickups fill up. Our seasonal shipping page has timing ideas.
- Keep the key accessible. A missed handoff is the most common cause of delays.
- Clear the car. Remove personal items and toll tags.
- Watch the weather. If a storm is approaching, see our hurricane vehicle evacuation page.
- Check parking rules. If the car is on a residential street, make sure the pickup will not conflict with posted restrictions.
