Down here a cart isn’t a toy, it’s how people get around. We move them on our own equipment, the same as we move anything else.
A real vehicle in the Keys
In most of the country a golf cart lives on a golf course. In the Keys it does the school run, the grocery trip and the drive to the dock. Key West, Duck Key, Key Colony Beach and plenty of Islamorada neighbourhoods run on them.
Which means when someone buys one up the chain, or moves house, or takes delivery from a dealer on the mainland, it has to get down the road somehow. Towing it behind a car is not the answer, and most transport companies do not want the job.
We do. It rides on our truck with our driver, door to door, the same as any other vehicle.
What we move
Standard carts and street-legal LSVs alike — Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, Moke, and the lifted six-seaters that have taken over the last few years. Electric or gas.
Several at once is often the efficient way to do it. If you are a rental operation, a dealer or a community moving a handful, tell us the count and we will work out whether they travel together.
What to tell us
Make and model, seat count, and whether it has been lifted — a lift kit and oversized tyres change the height enough to matter. Whether it runs and rolls under its own power, because a dead cart needs winching. And whether it is electric or gas, along with the battery type if you know it, since that affects how we secure and handle it.
If it is street legal and titled, have the paperwork handy. If it is not, that is fine — it just travels as equipment rather than as a vehicle.
Common questions
Can you move more than one cart at a time?
Usually yes, and it is generally cheaper per cart that way. Tell us how many.
My cart doesn’t run. Is that a problem?
No, but say so when you ask for the quote. A cart that will not roll needs winching, which changes the time and the price.
Do you cover Key Colony Beach and the smaller islands?
Yes. Anywhere on the chain or in Monroe County that a truck can legally and safely reach.
Is a street-legal LSV treated differently?
Only in the paperwork. If it is titled and tagged, bring the documents; otherwise it moves the same way.
