Shipping a car to the Keys from out of state?
Here is exactly how it works, who hauls which leg, and why the last hundred miles is the part that goes wrong.
Two legs, two carriers, one point of contact
Almost nobody shipping a car into the Florida Keys is shipping it from inside Florida. It is coming from New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Tennessee, Chicago, Dallas. Which means the move is really two jobs stapled together.
The long leg runs from your city down to Florida. That is a corridor a mainland carrier drives constantly, and it is priced and scheduled accordingly. We do not run that leg, and we will not tell you otherwise.
The Keys leg is 113 miles of two-lane road across 42 bridges with no alternate route. That is the leg mainland carriers quote optimistically and then fail on. It is the leg we built this company around.
Why that split matters to you
A company that quotes you one price for both legs and never mentions the handoff is not being straight with you. Somewhere in that chain a second carrier exists. You just are not being told about them until the day something goes sideways.
The failure mode is always the same and it always happens at the same place. A truck that has driven from Virginia gets to Florida City, looks at what is left, and calls you: the truck has broken down, could you come up to Homestead and collect your car. You booked door-to-door delivery. You are now doing a 200-mile round trip.

Florida pickups and drop-offs
If your long-haul carrier can only get as far as a metro area, that is normal and it is not a problem. We meet them. Fort Lauderdale and Miami are on our daily lane, so a handoff there costs you nothing in time.

Timing
Build in more slack than you think you need. A northeast run is typically three to six days of driving, cross-country is a week or more, and then the Keys leg is scheduled on top of that. Snowbird season tightens everything southbound from October through December and northbound through April and May.

Any move that begins or ends outside Florida is carried by a separate licensed and insured motor carrier we work with. In-N-Out Keys does not perform the interstate portion of those moves. We tell you which carrier is handling that leg before you book, and we stay your point of contact throughout.
